Which free anti-virus software besides AVG 8.0 would you all recommend? I am experiencing a lot of problems with AVG 8.0.

First check out a couple of independent reviews / certifications.
ICSA Labs and Virus Bulletin's VB100 index are good places to do some homework.
Also take a look at the AV Comparatives site for comparisons between AntiVirus software.
There are a fair few number of choices here but as things currently stand Avira is seemingly better than both AVG and Avast.
