Which Free anti-virus software is good?

  1. Which free anti-virus software besides AVG 8.0 would you all recommend? I am experiencing a lot of problems with AVG 8.0.

  2. First check out a couple of independent reviews / certifications.

    ICSA Labs and Virus Bulletin's VB100 index are good places to do some homework.

    Also take a look at the AV Comparatives site for comparisons between AntiVirus software.

    There are a fair few number of choices here but as things currently stand Avira is seemingly better than both AVG and Avast.

    AntiVir Personal from Avira.

    See this post if you're interested in a free 1 year subscription to Computer Associates' CA Anti-virus 2008.

    It's completely legal, so no hassles there.
