I have a digital photo that is 19" wide, 3" deep, 1200 dpi, and around 3 mg. I would like to use this as the header on a new website. (Just a plain flat header, no zooming, etc.) I've tried all the PIXresizer type programs and none have yielded the result I'm shooting for, some won't even import a file that large. I've played around with it in Photoshop, different file types, and haven't come up with a good solution for a 960 header. Do you have any suggestions? Is it a lost cause? Do I need to outsource the process to a pro? Would appreciate any guidance, love your site and the information is the best on the web!

Have you tried the freeware Irfanview ? Load your image in it and click IMAGE > RESIZE. Choose your new size in pixels / inches, as desired and click OK. Then click FILE > SAVE AS to save it in a folder of choice.
I'm afraid i don't understand what you mean by "960 header" - would you clarify please?
