   Vamanan Iyer in an email - May I take the liberty of requesting you to provide me with information on the followings or rather give me clear clarification on my doubts on the following points.

   1. For higher studies in Engineering, Medicine or Information Technology is INDIAN Universities better equipped than that of US or UK?

   2.Is it true that this year Maximum number of students from India have taken admission in American Universities?

   3. The research facilities and faculties available at the Indian Universities are as good as or even better than US and UK universities?

   4. And Lastly is the Management Degrees obtained from any University in India recognized and treated par with those obtianed from US and UK?

   ed - I am not the right person to answer these queries so if anyone here can help. Will pass on your responses to Vamanan

   Hi Amit on the points you have raised they are as follows:
   1.on higer studies i think india has as yet to catch up with universities of UK & US,especially in the engineering,medicine and IT sector; i'm sure as iam making this statement, india would have made a giant stride in IT sector and business management.
   2.UK bases therefore not able to comment on the US but UK still require able and talented students from India; they bring fresh breath to our universities and are doing Well!

   No. IITs and AIIMS etc are great for Bachelors level, but India does not have a research culture like US.
   2.Is it true that this year Maximum number of students from India have taken admission in American Universities?
   For USA Yes, we beat China.
   3. The research facilities and faculties available at the Indian Universities are as good as or even better than US and UK universities?
   Not at all, India is far behind.
   4. And Lastly is the Management Degrees obtained from any University in India recognized and treated par with those obtianed from US and UK?
   No. To elaborate, IITs award B.Tech. and M.Tech. which are recognized and respected in USA. IIMs award PGDBM etc which do not have universal recognition, so the question of respect does not arise. I know many IIM grads who end up doing a MBA from USA if they want to rise in USA.
