   Hi everyone,
   I just found out about this website, and I joined it because I thought its very useful. I have a little problem. Im student of UBC, and we students ALL have a lot of files and notes and stuff. I have to keep them organaized, however I cant just use my host to upload and stuff. Because this is so difficault to do every 2 hours.
   I was wondeirng if you guys know any web based application that can be installed on my host, and I can sync my files in it. What Im really looking for is a web based application that I can sync my files, and I have my username and password. I can create usernames for a few of my friends or even my dad, and something that use it pretty much every 2 hours. I dont want my files to be PUBLIC...
   if you know such an application please let me know ;) thanks everyone...

   check out eSnips.com - it offers 5 GB storage and you can pick and choose which folders you want to make public/private.

   There's also Live Mesh - which is a Microsoft offering. Their "Folders" might suit your need.

   Have you considered Google Docs? There are options available for selective sharing there too.

   Another option would be to create FTP credentials and folders with the appropriate access permissions and then let each individual know

   Ive checked them all out and they are great. especially the mesh tech... Too bad its not built for Canada yet. Anyways, all of those wbesites are great except that I can not use my own host, or install it on my own website. Here are things I need the web app do for me:

   1. Need it to be installed on my own host.
   2. Syncs files from my pc to my host.
   3. Needs username and password so anyone cant just see the files there....
   3. I'll be able to create username passwords for a few of friends of mine to share stuff...
   4. SOMETHING THAT I CAN USE A LOT... LIKE EVERY 2 HOURS...

   Do you think I can find something like that on the web? Or should I just give up LOL....
   U know... I want it to be installed on my own host, like wordpress, like the open source galleries, or maybe like the GOOGLE CALENDAR which I can put it on my blog. Something that can be part of my website or install it on a different directory.

   Yes basically I want it to do those things for me, but I havent found anything on the web yet :(
