Moving from wordpress.com to wordpress.org blog

    I am moving my blog from the Wordpress.com to WOrdpress.org
    I cannot remove my old Wordpress.com blog as it has very good ranking in Google and PR4 .. I wanted to know:
    a)Should the posts (with their titles and body) remain the same as in old blog. Will it not result in duplication which may be penalised by Google.
    b)Is there any way to transfer the PR to the new blog?

    I don't have an answer to that but have a related question. So, instead of starting another thread, I'm seeking help at the same thread.

    Situation 1: I had a blog at wordpress.com. Then, I purchased a domain name [www.travellersdiary.net] and Domain Mapping through WordPress.com. Now I intend to use Wordpress.org and discontinue using wordpress.com.

    Questions: 1. How can I do that?

    Situation 2: When I log into my Domain Manager, it gives me 3 options for nameserver - i. Parked nameservers ii. Hosting nameservers iii. Custom nameservers

    Question: Which of these should I choose if I want to use wordpress.org and an external host?

    first go for a host. if you want to opt for host in India than go for ewebguru (www.ewebguru.com). Else you can go for hostgator or dreamhost.

    If you don't want to pay than go for freehostia free hosting service.

    In any of the host create database and than install wordpress. Also change the DNS setting to dns1.xxxx.com and dns2.xxxx.com or more. (here xxxx represents your host name)

    First of all choose a host (paid or free) than for each and every step you can open a support ticket if you feel so. Or post right here.

    Opt the option which allows you to give DNS address of your host

    This thread actually cleared some of my doubts. I had one question concerning this..

    situation: I hav a wordpress.com blog say eee.wordpress.com for which i hav a domain www.eee.org.

    After i buy a host, setup wordpress.org and one fine day, i redirect the domain initially directed towards eee.wordpress.com to the new host i setup.

    Since my DOMAIN Name hasnt changed, how will that affect my google rankings, search etc.

    If you want to redirect all your posts from wordpress.com to new host, you will have to pay wordpress.com for this.

    Also suppose your post at wordpress has the address as: www.eee.wordpress.com/xxxx.html and the same post with new host has the address www.eee.org/xxxx.html.... than no doubt your ranking will be affected... both alexa and google.... you have to build the rank again
