Is there any way I can Ban a particular IP from visiting My Blog ? I am getting Some very Vulgar comments as Spam from a particular IP. The commentator is Using My name Knows my Email address, and Even Using My Blog address URL.
He can even abuse the same thing by posting comments on Other websites. How do I stop Him ?
I have Wordpress and Akismet But feeling very Irritated whenever I see that Person Commenting Using my name and Blog Url.
If it's your blog, you can opt to use comment moderation. That means every comment must meet with your approval before it shows up below your post.
Of course, if he's commenting on other blogs, then you have NO control whatsoever over that, except to talk to the owner/moderator of that site/blog. :-(
Of course I have comment Moderation enabled. But i was thinking If I could track anyone Who is Posting Fake Comments Using My name or email over the web. I mean its Not possible To check each and every Blog manually.
No...it isn't. That's coz the inherent nature of the web is far too trusting. THe current and traditional concept of email was valid and good when it was designed by and for academics. The dark and seamy side of the Internet is quite visible for all to see in this day and age - spam, phishing, drive-bys, trojans just to name a few...
Even today, there's just no practical way to validate a user. Although, a blog owner could enable in the options that ONLY registered users can post comments. ANd in order to register, a confirmatory email will be sent to the email address in question. Of course, seeing such hassles, very very few people will stop by to leave a comment.
Ah..... Found a Way. Its Backtype http://www.backtype.com.
Extracts All The Links and Pages Where I have Left a Comment Using My email,name,website. So If someone is Posting comments On Other blogs Using my name I can Track it Using Backtype and request the Author to remove it.

Ya true a Normal Google search Would do it but that is a manual process. What makes Backtype Interesting is apart from your comments,you can even track the conversations of your favourite Bloggers and Know on which Blogs they are commenting.
