How To know what users are looking for in a search engine?

  1. Recently i made a new blog on programming.Now i want to optimize it for search engines.For that i need to know what users are actually searching for..i.e what users are typing in the search engine.Can anyone tell me from where i can get this data? do i need any special software or some websites.

    Please advice

  2. Use Keywords suggestion tools like:
    Google Adwords Sandbox
    https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

    OR

    Overture Keywords Selector Tool
    http://inventory.overture.com/

    Many other tools like: Wordtracker etc. are also available.

  3. If you have just started, just focus on writing content.

    And when you build search traffic after few months, looking your referral logs from Google Analytics to see how people are finding you on the web. That will give lot of hints.
