  1. The old permalink structure of my blogwas :www.ampercent.com/?p=%post_id%.
I changed the structure to www.ampercent.com/%category%/%post_id%/ and used the Deanlee permalink migration plugin from http://www.deanlee.cn/wordpress/permalinks-migration-plugin/.

But that didnt worked and showed a 404 error message continuosly.later i added index.php in the new permalink structure and it worked .

Can anyone tell me how do i get rid of that index.php ? Do i need to edit the .htaccess file.I could not find .htaccess file in my site or FTP.

    I hope i am clear.Please suggest

  2. You can not find the .htaccess file as the file name starts with .[DOT], which means the file is hidden.(Hope its a UNIX/LINUX property).

I have written an article exactly to solve this problem. Have a look at it and read it completely @ http://technotip.org/how-to-change-permalink-structure-in-wordpress/

I have seen your comment in my blog, below my article, and feel that you have not read it completely. I may be wrong, but still in case, if you have not read it completely, then please read it completely because it can solve your problem.
If you have any problem you can always ask me..and I think redirection is not a good idea, if you don't have many(more than 50 articles) articles already in your blog.
