   hello guys.

   Im a medical professional. I just want to blog on free medical advise as i feel either most of people lack it or get wrongly advised.
   I have zero knowledge on languages like web and c++ and like that. I have just started to learn HTML from HTML AND XHTML: The definite Guide. I am well used to internet.

   So kindly tell me what all i should prepare myself to do an effective blogging. I don't want to do much of designing work, just the basics i need to learn. Also i need to learn SEO since the blog has to reach the appropriate people to let them get help.

   So i want to know the books i should learn to do effective blogging. Kindly mention it so that i can have a better blogging experience.

   If you are looking for help with blogging you have come to the right place, however I must say you have probably not searched the site well. There is a wealth of information on this site about how to start a blog,

   here is a link about how to use blogger to start your blog

   You can also sign-up at 'http://wordpress.com'and start a blog.

   These two options are very popular will require the least amount of html knowledge and most of it is WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get).

   The other advantage is that you don't have to invest any money to start your blog.
   You do however have to invest something more valuable than money and that is TIME.
   I would say start you blog and then learn html, css and other stuff while you are writing your blog and editing it online.

   Give it a try and if you get going and you think its something you want to pursue in the long run and also if you blog is attracting enough visitors then you can spend the time and money to get your own domain name and host your own blog like Amit and other blogger in this forum.

   @drsvijay: You have the correct attitude from what I read above. Concentrate on the content before trying to focus on things like SEO etc. It's not good getting people in only to then browse away due to a lack of content that interests them.

   kiranjeevi has given you fair advice - start off on a bloggin service provider like blogger.com or wordpress.com. Personally, I'd recommend WordPress.com before then migrating over to a self-hosted WordPress blog.

   If you're in this for the long run, I'd also recommend that you get yourself a domain name and link it to your blogging service. Please do remember that you always get what you pay for - if you're looking for quality, then at most times, you *will* need to spend for it.
