I know that its a social and sharing site like reddit and others. However, I was wondering what exactly the number of diggs mean? Does it mean, say 200 diggs, that 200 hundred people went to that site and submit it to digg seperately. If thats not the case, how does it work. I have seen posts with 5000 diggs too. I am just curious why so many people submit the same thing. Is it a coincidence. Please share.

UnregisteredIt is more like a voting system. There are two kinds of voting, first one person submits it on digg.com and other people say they digg(support)that article, blog or whatever was submitted. Other way is if someone views the article and if it has a link to social bookmark like digg then that person(has to be a member of digg.com)can click on the link to say that he/she diggs it. The diggs(votes)by both these methods are combined to make the total diggs.
