  1. Sir/Madam, I have used BSNL's Broadband for almost 2 years receiving a bill of Rs.2,000/- bi-monthly (Home 250 plan). Now suddenly they sent me Rs.10,000/- bill. I sent my claim to the company, but they are not ready to accept. How can I prove this? They are speaking of some port binding and argue that no one else can use my connection without password. I checked the usage records on the company's website www.dataone.in, but most of the records are not of my usage, and for which I am absolutely sure. I could only suggest that there is an error in their metering system or someone is misusing my connection. Please let me know if it is possible that someone else uses my broadband connection, so I can atleast convince the company someway. I am really helpless. Thanks in advance & Kind Regards.

  3. Sir, I need some technical and accurate information, if someone understands this BSNL's broadband technology. Pl let me know if someone else can use my broadband connection inspite of port binding (what the company is speaking about as a security measure and frankly which I do not understand).

    Please help early.

Thanks in advance & kind regards.

  4. Just don't pay the bill. There have been stories floating over the net, reporting bill of a whopping Rs. 72000/- by BSNL !!!

    1. Get a copy of application form, you submitted when appying for the connection.
    2. Get Shaplus Data One software and measure the correct bandwidth usage. Take a flash drive / CD and copy the data onto it.

Go to BSNL office and show them the live demonstration.
    Don't worry.

BTW, I highly recommend to upgrade to Home 500 or switch to any private operator. (I mean, don't support the government :)

    Do report here.

1st you check ur usage (because ur account is not unlimited use account) usage check site is dataone.in

you submit your complaint in www.core.nic.in

after that you give written complaint to GM Or billing department (Note : recived complaint copy)

also send NOTICE through RTI go to RTI website Or Head Post office in ur city for more detail about RTI (Right to information ACT -2005) for how they send you BIG amount bill, they send you detail in 30 days (100%, if they not send they will give you fine).

  6. nihangshah, thanks for ur response. I do not have the copy of application form as such, but I have got them acknowledge my complaint letters. I did not make the bill payment.... they have just sent me Rs.20,000/- bill for Sep-Oct'07. I got the broadband disconnected in September itself as my bill was soaring, otherwise I guess it would have crossed 1 lakh rupees. Thanks for the software recommended, but I don't have broadband any longer - I have switched over to Reliance dialup. Plan to approach the consumer court - but would like to build a strong case beforehand.

  7. bhatiacane, thank you for your response. I did check my usage on the website. Most of the records are in the daytime and other time when no one is home? Also very heavy usage (especially received data) at night around 2 and 3 pm.

I have addressed complaints by hand and registered A/D to local and regional offices of BSNL, and also the Gujarat Circle Chief GM (all duly acknowledged).

How exactly can this core.nic.in help, please suggest as I plan to approach the consumer court.

RTI is also a good idea - will definitely consider. But the problem is how do I prove I have not used the internet so much? How will I prove that my phone was not working for over 15 days in August? Please guide me - Thanks & Regards.

  8. I will make the company pay very heavily for making me waste so much of my time, energy, money and resources. It seems they believe they can send the consumer anything which he will have to cough up? What if they send me a bill running in lakhs and say you pay up? And the situation is that I am left without my telephone and internet connection for no fault of mine.

i really cant understand why bsnl troubles its own subscribers and force them to subscribe a private operator. it is clear that ur account has been hacked.tell the staff @ bsnl(nib) to check the phone nos which r using ur account. there r ways to track down them. request them to give information regarding this. a printout will be much better. the nib can provide u with detail info.
speak to the senior officers of broadband section of bsnl. they should be able to help u.
