@techlee: I recommend that you use an email service provider that allows you to access your email via the IMAP4 protocol. http://www.gmail.com comes to mind, along with http://www.vfemail.net and http://www.fastmail.fm (which are premium providers).
Then either forward your current emails to the new mailbox to keep them updated, or configure your new mailbox to pull in emails from your existing mailbox via POP3.
