   AVG is a good software . But if you download it, it forcefully puts the Yahoo search bar/ AVG active search (depending on free or paid version) on your firefox bar. Not only this, when you try to use the Google search or any other search from firefox search bar, it tries to force u to use Yahoo search. This is highly irritating.. How can you get rid of this worm - Yahoo?

   Perhaps using the Yahoo search is a pre-condition of using AVG without paying for it. AVG probably gets a cut of the search results revenue from Yahoo. Have you tried alternatives like Avira ? http://free-av.com Works well.

   Also, from what I've gathered from other sources, the checkbox to install Yahoo toolbar is checked at the time of installation of AVG, but the user <b>can uncheck</b> it if they so choose. Try re-installing AVG 8 and see if this holds true.

   Here's a very nice guide - I suggest you go thru the pros and cons of each and then make your choice.

   Actually previously I had installed the free version and found this problem. Then I installed the full version 8.5 and to my surprise found the same Yahoo bar again on firefox !
   I checked very carefully during the installation and there was no option to uncheck yahoo bar. I saw the guide link that you have put up but cannot find the files in AVG folder which they mention to change...
