It's strange that you could show up ads without a confirmation mail from Google Adsense.May be they activated your account but failed in sending you a confirmation mail.Anyways,don't take anything for granted and mail them about the problem.....
Later,don't forget to share with us what happened!!.

How did u get the ads on your site..?
You can't get the ads without getting your account confirmed.., can you?
Then another thing: Google has changed its TOS. Now you should have your own top level domain name to get accepted for adsense. Eg. http://www.example.com
So, I think blogspot blogs can no longer apply for adsense....Bad luck :(

If adsense is available to only top level domains why google has added the adsense widget on blogger?

Well, I think it is a new rule, because adsense was previously available to even subdomains. But now, because of spams and adsense-only sites, they might have decided to change the rule.
But I ain't sure if blogger blogs are not accepted.

But how could you show ads without an active account..? [You didn't answer this]

@Amal Royif you are able to see ads that means you have been approved for adsense...check your spam/trash folders for he confirmation mail.
@xaneem: Ia am sure there no such rule...can you show the TOS which says so?

@ROW
I heard this from my friend who had recently applied for Adsense on his blogspot blog. But he was not approved and here's the email from them:
****
In order to participate in Google AdSense, publishers' websites and application information must satisfy the following guidelines:
*Your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not http://www.example.com/mysite).
*Your domain must have been registered and active for at least 6 months before you apply for AdSense.
*You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.
*Your website must contain substantial, original content.
*Your site must comply with Google AdSense program policies: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py which include Google's webmaster quality guidelines: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769#quality.***
I think the first 2 (or 3) rules are new ones, aren't they?
[I was approved into AdSense in a one-month old blog]

@ROW @Amal Roy
He says that he was not able to log-in to his adsense account, which would not have been if he was approved, even if the confirmation mail was listed as Spam.
I think you should email the AdSense team, and your question will be answered the way it should be.
