@KallAngo: There's very little change, if any for your site's load time. Your images are still taking up 320 KB of the total 520 KB.

But if you're using AJAX, doesn't the scripting code also have to be pre-loaded?

Came across this software called PHP Speedy. It also comes with a WordPress plugin now, although that is still a work in progress, so use it at your own risk.

@etiol: This is why I made use of an independent third party testing system as a baseline. Your opinion of reducing front page content is also one that I agree with.

Less data to be loaded = Faster page loading time, right? :-)

Sometimes It depends on your Browser, Internet Connection Speed. So you need to understand that a person with 2 MBps internet connection will get to see the site earlier than a 256 KBps.

ANother problem may be with you site. If you use third party Applications than that might be problem as they have lot a javascript stuffed in so you need to remove those. (try using Google Gadgets as they load very quickly.

Another problem is that to many posts are there on the homepage. Try to reduce them to somewhat 5 or 6 and then see the magic work. That's all! Best of luck.

For more info check out my post on how to speed up website load time -

Well...I tested your site at http://tools.pingdom.com/ and the results don't seem to be all that bad.

A sub-10 second load time is quite alright. As you mentioned, you have a few scripts and 3rd party widgets. These may increase your page's load time. Optimize your images by reducing size/quality as your images are taking up the bulk of your loading time. You might even consider loading smaller thumbnails linking to the full-size images.
