Firefox make profiles in c:\document and settings\<user>\application data\mozilla\firefox

After uninstalling the firefox , del this folder also and then install it. Everything will work fine then.

Abhi - Make sure you have deleted your Firefox profile folder and installed the new Firefox in some separate directory.

Hi All,

This is a bit long but a bizarre firefox issue. Please have patience and read it carefully

I love Firefox and today I tried a change to it.I read this article in pcworld: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,136862-page,8-c,mozilla/article.html and tried to follow the steps to optimize it.However after doing that ,a bizarre thing started. When I clicked on 'friends' in my stumbleupon toolbar it showed the page in a weird manner. It just showed plain texts,no stylesheet.

I then also went to stumble homepage by typing http://www.stumbleupon.com.Same thing!!....And heres what firefox error console said:

Error: The stylesheet http://www.stumbleupon.com/css/screen.css was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/plain", is not "text/css".Source File: http://www.stumbleupon.com/Line: 0

Now I had backed up my firefox registry before I made the change...hence I restored it.But still same issue.I uninstalled and reinstalled stumble toolbar, deleted all private data, cache cookies....no resolution.

Finally I decided to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Now here comes another bizarre issue.

I successfully uninstalled firefox, downloaded it and reinstalled it.And what I see...my settings are back automatically...extensions,bookmarks..it doesn't look new at all!!!...Hows that possible I wondered??

But then I thought never mind...i again uninstalled it,used CCleaner to clean up the registry, restarted the system and again reinstalled firefox from the setup file.

Man!!..still the same old firefox with same old settings!!!...and the problem with stumbleupon remains!!

By the way I have checked with many of my friends and their stumbleupon in firefox is working fine. Also everything else seems to work fine in firefox for now ,apart from this issue .And stumbleupon works fine in IE in my PC.

But I need to get this problem resolved.

I have tried whatever I could and now almost pulling my hair. Can anyone excplain me what the hell is happening???

I thankyou in advance and appreciate your patience.
