The spammer only sees the pseudo / virtual username and if that is compromised, you can always set a rule to BLOCK email addresses to that particular mailbox.</p> <p>As in my example above, suppose I start getting spam addressed to <a href="mailto:bookmarksite2334@user.fastmail.fm" rel="nofollow">bookmarksite2334@user.fastmail.fm</a>, then all I need to do is to set up a rule that'll move all email with that particular address to the Trash. It's a good idea but then they ought to be smart enough to implement the appropriate RFC describing email usernames. (+,-,_ etc. are <strong>valid</strong> characters).</p> <p>I much prefer Fastmail.fm's sub-domain addressing.</p> <p>As an example - assume I have a mailbox/account <a href="mailto:user@fastmail.fm" rel="nofollow">user@fastmail.fm</a></p> <p>I can then create aliases like <a href="mailto:spammingsite1@user.fastmail.fm" rel="nofollow">spammingsite1@user.fastmail.fm</a><br /> <a href="mailto:bookmarksite2334@user.fastmail.fm" rel="nofollow">bookmarksite2334@user.fastmail.fm</a></p> <p>and so on.
