If you want your intact data you need to repair your corrupted or recover your deleted excel file then you need excel recovery software for this purpose. When I got this error: This excel file is not in a recognizable format, I tried Stellar Phoenix Excel Recovery Software to repair my excel files. You can try this software for your problem. Try the demo version first from here: http://www.repair-excel-file.com/ and scan your excel files, if you are able to view your excel files as they were earlier then you need to opt for full version to save your excel files.

What happens if you opt to NOT Repair ? What version does your software program export its data in?

Also what kind of XLS workbook is it? Are there any macros or any sort of scripts/objects embedded in the workbook?

If you have a Google account, try uploading the file to Google Docs to see if there are any errors while importing said file. And lastly, if you could upload and link a sample file which *doesn't* work in your 2007 installation here in this forum, perhaps we could take a closer look at it.

I have a software program that exports data in .xls format. I've been opening the exported data in Excel with no problems. I upgraded to Office 2007, and now Excel 2007 wants to repair the worksheet. In the process, it deletes almost all of my data. Any ideas on how to have Excel 2007 open the files and keep the data intact?

Greg
