Well, thnx for replying. The opposite party is registered charity in UK (Sikh Temple). There is no contract of any kind between me & them. As I know IT stuff, so I designed and hosted their website on my account with my money. They havn't spent even 1 ruppee till now.

Its 8months till i left UK. Now when I sent them a email saying plz pay money to me so that i can renew the services (domain name & hosting), they replied to transfer domain to them which I don't want as they threaten me. I was happy, if they pay my expenses and requested me to transfer but they did not.

Now I don't want to transfer it for free. I need money more than I spent. Means I want to sell domain name.

I confirmed from Nominet.org.uk, they said anyone from any part of the world can buy .uk domain and he/she is not required to be a British/UK citizen.

Please help me, as I am a student not doing any job. I just want to know, what legal action in India (Indian Government)can take (FIR, Court Case, claim etc.) can be taken by them. I dont have money to goto court or hire a solicitor. But I do have a proof as the email they sent to me (our email communication about this dispute)in which they gave me a threat. I have renewed the domain for next 2years.

Please give your valuable suggestion.
Thanks very much 4 ur kind help.

India's cyber laws won't come into effect as you entered into contract with a non-Indian company (the domain name host).

If the organisation is registered, then they can bring about legal means to ask you to hand over the site to them. You don't want to be called a site squatter, hand it over.

If you've entered into contract with them for services provided and there is proof of the same, then you can point to that, but apparently you did all the work gratis. However, from what you've written, even though you might technically own the name, it's best to negotiate and hand over the domain. Otherwise, renew the domain with your own money and brace yourself for a fight.

Also, are you satisfying all the conditions necessary for owning a .co.uk domain? If you aren't the domain registrar might take the domain away from you on the grounds of misrepresentation.

I went to Uk for few months on Visa. I bought there ".co.uk" domain on my name and my temp address of UK. I designed a website for religious org for free and also hosted this site on my hosting account.

When I asked them for money to renew services, they started threatening me to handover domain name to them which I dont want as I am the only legal owner.

About Domain : This is registered through http://www.fxdomains.com which is USA based. And hosted on http://www.ixwebhosting.com which also USA based. Domain name is on my name and I am living in India. The domain name is http://www.somewebsite.co.uk, which ends in .uk. The http://www.nominet.org.uk take care of all UK domains based in UK.

My questions:

1. If the opposite party will file a legal complaint against me to claim domain name, in which country, it will be filed & processed.

2. Domain registrar & hosting companies are USA based and I am from India, living in India. How the case will proceed.

3. What legal actions can be taken against me and how these will effect me.

4. What is India's cyber law says about this dispute.

Plz help...
