I did it.Finally.

Sparx i deleted my old database and all my files from the server.Still it gave me the same error message. Then while hovering in the settings section i looked at the wordpress address url.
It was set as :http://www.ampercent.com/?step=2/

I changed it to http://www.ampercent.com/ and BINGO........

Thanks Sparx......you have great patience.

I'm afraid I'm all out of answers at this point in time, since I can't verify that your provider has taken steps to ensure that IIS is correctly configured.

First, revert to the default theme and see if your blog shows up correctly. Turn off all your plugins when you're doing this. DO you still get the CGI error?

If all else fails, see if wiping everything and starting afresh helps (including the SQL stuff).

Last question: are you installing WP manually or are you using some sort of scripted install provided by your hosting service?

Sparx i tried modifying the wp-db.php file but it came to no use.i also contacted my hosting provider and they told that I have the latest Php version and it meets the minimum requirements.

please see this screenshot :
http://amitbanerjee007.googlepages.com/1.gif

Why does my dashboard looks like this ? It says i am having this "Prosumer" theme but it nowhere matches with the theme.i have uploaded my new theme here:wwwroot/wp-content/themes/newtheme

Please tell me the steps how to configure the CGI error and the wordpress themes.I have checked the Wordpress Forums but cant find a satisfactory answer.Should i delete everything and start afresh?

Most of the time this is due to permalinks.

In order to modify permalinks, a module called mod_rewrite is used to frame URLs of individual posts/pages/ categories in your WP blog.

WordPress doesn't work fabulously out of the box with IIS as it does with Apache (which does have mod_rewrirte).

Follow the instructions here and see if your host is running at least the bare minimums, if not the latest version of PHP and to check the specs of your server.

The thing is Apache supports "mod_rewrite" but IIS doesn't. And Linux hosting almost always uses Apache as the web server whereas WIndows based hosting will use the built-in IIS web server.

These links *might* help your provider to better configure the IIS service to work with WP.
=====================

Other people have had limited success by modifying "wp-includes/wp-db.php" with the code located here. Try this @ your own risk or perhaps venture to the WP support forums

http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.iis.php

Not too helpful, but from it I can at least gather that you're on Windows hosting. Linux hosting is usually more friendly toward WordPress. Contact your hosting provider.

Hey i finally installed wordpress. Thanks to digital inspiration readers Kiran and Sparx who helped me installing it.

But now when i am trying to add a new user or to change a theme i am getting the following message :

"CGI error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers."

Any idea why i am getting this error?.How do i fix it.Thanks again.
