Thank you for identifying the format of those videos.

More info: Failure to see online videos occurs with both Firefox and IE7.

Have seen suggestions to get latest or reinstall
Windows Media Player
Flash Player
Shockwave
AciveX or DirectX not sure which.

When I try to view a video, Windows Media Player runs and it must be using Flash or Shockwave.

My question is, "When I uninstall each of those programs, is there a specific order I should uninstall or just do each uninstall, all, then reboot and reinstall one at a time.
Many thanks, Dave_s

hi Dave !

As far as I can tell, the videos embedded in the site are all Flash video, try updating your Flash and Shockwave plugins from here - http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ to the very latest and try again.

If you're using Internet Explorer, also try watching the vids via an alternate browser like Firefox / Opera to see whether the same problem occurs.

My problem seems to be I cannot view videos at a web site, but can view MP3 and AVI files that are on my XP PRO SP3 PC, windows media player ver 9.

At http://www.marketwatch.com, when I select a video, the end result is a black screen or an ad, never displays any of the video. Previously I was able to view videos at web sites, maybe with SP2, but not with SP3. See lots of "transfering data until black screen.

MP3 files on my PC work ok. AVI made with my camera do work only after running DVIFIX++ on each file.

If necessary, I would download the video at that web site. But I do not know how to d/l a video at a website like http://www.marketwatch.com

Thanks for any help. Dave_s
