If you are going to remove/merge the extended partition that contains multiple drives then you better use your disk management tool in Windows XP. Just backup everything in the drives you want to merge or resize then go to your control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management and then remove your drives using disk management and then re-create new partitions with the size you want. Do it at your own risk.

From EE:

First of all, Backup your system, in case you need it, if not....

Second : boot with your Windows XP Cd-rom and, when prompted to Recover an old installation or new one, choose "new one" by pressing the ESC key.

Next step, choose of partition. Here, select the C: and Press "D", Then "ENTER", then"L", and your partition C has gone; then select the F: and Press "D", Then "ENTER", then"L", and your partition F has gone. In the partitions table nothing left but "Unallocated Space". Choose it and press "Enter", set the size of it, in your case, Full Space and press "Enter".

Then Setup will copy files and install as usual.

Warning: Use at your own risk.

Hello,
I have a number of unwanted partitions on my laptop running Windows XP and these are taking up a lot of space. Can anyone suggest a freeware application which allows a user to merge partitions.

Thanks in advance.

My dad's e-machine crapped-out and I unplugged my powerpack and tried it on his machine but it didn't work. I then re-attached it to my machine and now, when I hit the start button, it gives 4 short beeps. I desperately need to get into my hard drive but can't get a computer to run it! The only box I have that works is this 98 machine. Can I slave the XP drive to this computer and if so, how? Thanks!

Hey Amit, you use WLW ,can you solve a problem?
I had successfully installed beta 2 ver. of WLW.
In recent days, a new ver. was launched and now I'm unable to publish posts. It gives an error "Unable to connect with Remote Server"

Is it always necessary to upgrade to latest version?

I'm posting this thing because I think you have a lot of experience with WLW

Hey,

I am guessing that you are trying to run the windows applicaitons from MAC OS X itself. As far as I know this is not possible. What you should do is shut down OS X. Then restart by pressing the power button and press the alt/option key. Since you say that XP through bootcamp has already been loaded, you would be presented with the option of loading into windows or mac. Choose windows and it works as your normal XP machine.

If on the other hand you want to run an .exe file while you are in Mac then you could try an app called crossover. It is still a very basic app and may not work most of the times.

I recently bought a MacBook after being assured that I would be able to run Windows, MS Office, IMSI’s FloorPlan-3D and all my other Windows-based applications.

The store installed BootCamp and VMware-Fusion, Windows XP and all my Windows-based software but I haven’t been able to run any of my old applications other than Firefox.

How does one get into the Windows environment from a MacBook?

I have clicked on the "Windows HD" icon on my desktop, and chosen "Windows" and "Explorer.exe" - but could not actually launch Explorer. Instead, I was presented with a message that said: "There is no default application to open the document."

I have the same problem when I try to open Windows-based email-attachments. What should I do now? [Louise Normandin]

Any Apple fans out here. Will the Apple Mighty Mouse and the just launched Apple Keyboard work with Windows Vista or XP?

It looks beautiful, supports USB & Bluetooth but the Apple Keyboard specs say that it works only on OS X.

Any suggestions to make the Apple keyboard work with Windows?

The most compelling feature - "The keyboards have two USB 2.0 ports to provide high-speed connectivity for your iPod, Mighty Mouse, digital camera.."

well there is a simple procedure to uninstall or delete linux in two step and it is tested and safe also.

Requirements:
You need a windows 98 startup disk or windows 98 bootable floppy .

How to do it:
1. Boot up in Windows xp.

2. Start>>control panel>>administrative tools>>computer management

3. Go to disk management under "storage"

4. Select your hard disk and then the linux partition.

5. Delete the linux partition this will delete linux and grub.

6. Now reboot your laptop with windows 98 start up disc or floppy and type the command "fixmbr" .

7. Above command will repair ur bootloader and rewrite ntldr which will replace corrupted grub.

8.thats it done now boot your laptop normally it will be booted by default in windows xp.

Would you please post an article on Uninstallation of Linux from a machine which has got Win XP and Linux on it.

My Laptop (Acer 5570) has got Ubuntu and Windows XP (Licensed Version) on it. I need to delete grub and linux. I searched the internet and I am sorry to say that I didnt get a satisfactory advise from any site or tech forums. Linux gurus never go for dual boot. So they also were not able to help.

Could you kindly help me by posting an article on this issue?
