John: Does anyone know if it is possible to get a hold of the font Calibri (one of the new ones in Office 2007 - calibri.ttf) without buying Office 2007.

I have Office 2007 at home, and really appreciate how nice the font is when using the computer a lot, but work only have Office 2003. Any way I can download calibri for mac.

Two solutions by fellowing MVPs

1. windows xp comes preinstalled with Mangal Hindi font. One need to ENABLE Hindi (asian layout) support through Control Panel to able to edit documents in Unicode Hindi font like Mangal. Legacy Hindi fonts like Krutidev do not need this configuration.

2. I think you need to install indic from XP Control Panel >Regional and Language Options>Languages>Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including thai). For editing you need to goto Details... and add Hindi (or other indian language) keyboard layout.

Another issue:

I received a word document and it has some Indian fonts, called Mangal.ttf which my XP has and they are TTF. Although when I view the file or the document I can see the Indian words, but when I try to highlight a word and change the text it comes out in English even though the Indian font is selected, or even when I highlight a whole word typed in English then select the Indian font.

Can anyone help Jegajothy:

I am using Windows XP Prof and I use Office 2007. I tried using the font Manggal which a friend from India used in a document that he sent but he was lost why I could not edit the document although I have the font. I believe the font Mangal is a Sanskrit font.

I have also set the Asian language support feature from Control Panel.

I am transcribing a Lecture by a Swami on Vedanta for our local Temple in Lanham, Maryland. And in the talk sometimes she uses Sanskrit and Hindi. Another collegue in India does the Sanskrit part, but he uses the Mangal font. Thus, the need to use the font. And he is unable to give me instructions on how to rectify this.

If you know how to solve this or offer any suggestions, I would appreciate receiving them.
