Hi Amit,

First off...thank you so much for the blog. LABNOL has helped me in so many ways I'll need an hour to type it all in. I wanted your help on one specific topic, which you had posted sometime back - 2008 May 08, titled:

How to Insert LinkedIn Email Signatures In Gmail

http://labnol.blogspot.com/2005/05/tools-for-generating-email-signatures.html

The style that you have displayed looks really good, but that URL does not work.

Are there any programs that can create the exact same style? I found a few others but none of them matches up to the one displayed on the said page.

Please help.

Best,
Anup

I have a couple of Gmail accounts. I now have a new one, set by a company I am associated with. I set Outlook 2007 as the email client for all my Gmail accounts as POP3 with the exception that this new one was set as IMAP.

I need to send a short email through that account to about 5 recipients and the message was rejected with the following message:

"Technical details of permanent failure:
Message rejected. See http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=69585 for more information."

The explanation in the link does not fit my situation.

I tried to send the exact same email directly using Gmail via a browser, with the same results (so it deosn't seem like a client or IMAP problem). Another test message with only a "test" in the subject worked!

I tried to send the exact same rejected message through another Gmail account I have, and ... it worked!!!

Any explanation and assistance in resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, GMail does not sync the chat logs even if you've applied a label, else it would be simple to just download them using an email client via IMAP. So, even if you create filters specifying chats from a particular person, they'll show on the web interface but NOT within any email client, even though the folder depicting the label will still be shown.

That's a good idea. Even web hosting companies like dreamhost and godaddy suggest using Google Apps with Gmail instead of their own mail servers. I guess they all want to "outsource" the mailing jobs to more capable services and stay focused on hosting.

@Amit: Original Poster specified interest in the Free edition, not Premier. That's why I didn't jump in with Premier features. BTW, did you know, Sify uses GMail for Apps? I think it's a great idea to use something proven, tested and used by loads of people.

Hi Anmol.

So, you are using Google Apps, you can set forwarding option for ALL incoming mails.

You can manually forward all older mails to your gmail a/c.

Also, try Gmail Backup (http://www.gmail-backup.com/) which enables to store all mails locally on hard disk, if it is avail for Google Apps as well.

:)

Sure. Assuming, you want emails from 2 email addresses - tester@abc.org & sampler@xyz.com to be labeled as TEST49, here's what you do:

First create the Filter.

Click SETTINGS > FILTERS and at the bottom of the page, click CREATE A NEW FILTER.

In the FROM field, type in the email addresses separated by OR "tester@abc.org OR sampler@xyz.com". The OR operator will assign the label if it meets any of the email addresses or terms listed.

Click TEST SEARCH to display and verify messages that you want to label. After this, click NEXT and check the actions that you'd like GMail to perform - in this case, we want to label those conversations with the label TEST49. SO, click the drop-down box for labels and click NEW LABEL, type the label name TEST49 and click CREATE FILTER.

I hope this answers your question.
