I would like to share tips, and hopefully get good ones about how to receive traffic, for free :P

My strategy at the moment is going to forums and just discuss, and then ask the audience to come visit my blog. However, I would like to know if you guys have any better strategy to attract traffic.

Please come to my visit my blog for some laughs.

I think all the latest forum software will have some sort of WordPress integration module available as additional plugins. bbPress, of course integrates into your existing WordPress installation and although not as fully featured as other well-known solutions, it certainly can be extended with a wide variety of plugins and other enhancements.

WPSMF acts as a bridge between WordPress and SimpleMachines Forum.

Have a look at OnePress Community also for similar functionality. In their own words - WordPress + phpBB.

However, if it's total unification that you're looking for, perhaps a CMS like Joomla or Drupal is better suited for complete integration between site, blog, forum, gallery etc.

So you want to add the paypal button in your signature or in a vBulletin forum post?

Depending on the way the forum is configured, use the editor to enter the code, that is the link to be sent to the paypal site and wrap the image url within it.

Thank you for your responses. This does give me some lead to start off. But, how does this blogger site (labnol.blogspot.com) have a Forum integrated into itself, if it's almost impossible to do so ? I just got curious since I've been grappling with this concern for quite a while ...

I think it would be better to find a free hosting provider(which includes databases) and create a forum there. Then you could link them to your blog.

I recommend ServerOcean - 25GB Space, 100GB bandwidth...and most importantly supports free database..
Just have a look at a test forum I created :)

You could link to a blog hosting service after having created your own forum on their servers. There are free services available - most are ad-supported and come with limited features.

Just do a search for "free forum hosting".

It would help if you narrow down the forum software that you want your forum to run on.

Invision - http://invisionfree.com
SMF - http://freesmfhosting.com

Forumer also might be worth checking out.

An additional option would be to create a support group on Google Groups or Yahoo Groups.

hi.
There is no way to integrate a forum with Blogger.com. :(

If you want to add a forum to your blog the best option would be hosting it @ a sub-domain of your blog-domain ( if you are using "Custom Domain" option of Blogger ).

Hi, I am keen to have a Forum on my blog (blogger) which enables visitors of common interest to share / interact / voice concerns and queries. I would like to know how to go about doing this as it requires some amount of hosting service to host a message board, I guess ...

Amit, I see you're using bbPress.

Which among these is best, according to you, for a WordPress user(me)?
BBPress or SMF?
I know CSS, and need to customize the theme, so that option would be a benefit.
