i forgot to mention something and i can't edit the new post now.. so making a new post..
you cant have yourdomain.com/forums unless you use FTP publishing for blogger

but you can surely use the forum on the subdomain(forums.yourdomain.com) and blogger blog on the root domain(www.yourdomain.com) as i have mentioned in the previous post

ok here are the steps to do it properly :).
First of all login to your domain control panel and change your domain's nameservers to that of your hosting.

Now your domain will be pointing to your host. You want the domain root to point to your blogger blog. So we have to hand over the root domain to blogger. To do this we should create a CNAME record for www with value ghs.google.com

You wont be able to create this CNAME(unless you have paid more for some VPS or some hosting which gives you the permission to do it by yourself). So ask your webhost to create such a CNAME for you. When your host creates such a CNAME for you, your domain root(www) will be hosted at google's servers. So you can switch your blogspot domain to the customdomain http://www.yourdomain.com

So now you are done with your blogger blog part.
Next you need the forum on your subdomain. To do that login to your hosting control panel and add the subdomain forums.yourdomain.com and install some forum script there..

I hope this helps. I already have a similar kind os setup for my forums and blog. :)

Additional Stuff : you can enable google apps on the domain if you ask the host to create necessary CNAME A and MX records needed for google apps :)

Blogger does not allow domains without WWW (naked domains) in custom domain. Here is the solution for Yahoo and Godaddy and probably all other Registrar

http://www.ialwayscapital.com/2009/0...omains-to.html

http://www.ialwayscapital.com/2009/0...domainurl.html

I was facing the same issue long back, then i solved it and wrote a blog post for this. After applying these settings (which you will find in above links) your site will work with or without WWW for an example look my site http://ialwayscapital.com which is in blogger and domain purchased from Yahoo.

Why not shift to self-hosting and then use any of the bulleting boards available - phpBB, SimpleMachines, VBulletin etc?

One can't add a forum *into* a blog. You can have a forum that can be linked to the blog and possibly you can integrate the blog/forum by using a Content Management System like Drupal or Joomla so the look and feel remian the same. But using only Blogger, ties your hands to a great degree.

Guys, i use a blogger account, but recently switched to a custom domain (.com).
I just wanna know how i can add a forum on my new blog. Yes i saw the earlier discussions on this topic, but not convinced.
I even tried STEALING codes from other blogs, that is right click on the forum page, view source code, copy it, edit etc.. but miserably failed. Oooops...

I don't want to use third party so-called free forum hosting options. They suck. Since i have a first grade domain i would prefer to use it as a sub domain within my new custom domain.

Could anyone help me please ? Looking for some codes so i can customise to my needs. Or any other way please. Thank you in advance. help appreciated.

I have registered a new domain (www.mydigg.in) and used blogger's custom domain feature to serve my blog (lognot.blogspot.com) in this new domain. My question is is there any probelm if i submit my new domain to google using Google's 'Add url' .
Will they consider it as a duplicate content.?
Is there any problem if i submit it to google using add url option ?

I think you need to use the same procedure to host a custom template on a blogger site that uses a custom domain name and one which is routed to blogname.blogspot.com

Hi Flaljee,

I think you created the site with URL 'stocksadvice.blogspot.com' earlier than the one with URL 'stocksandblogs.com' and may be that's one of the reasons why the latter is carrying a relatively lower PR as I think PR depends upon the time in addition to several other factors. If this is the reason then very soon you'll see a PR of 4 for this URL as well.

PR depends upon SEO as well and hence you may like to check if the custom domain based URL is as optimized for Google as the one based on the blogspot domain. But, PR of 3 itself shows that you have alredy followed almost all the Google Webmaster Guidelines. So very little chance of having this as the reason.

BTW PRs do keep fluctuating at least in some cases. That may also be one of the possible reasons and in that case also you just need to wait a while to see a PR of 4. All the best!

Plz let us know in case you find any other reason for the relatively lower PR or maybe other pro-bloggers may like to chip in with their relevant experience.

Thanks,

I was testing something with my DNS setting and temporarily I have had to revert from my custom domain to blogger\'s blogspot url. However, I noticed that my url of stocksadvice.blogspot.com carries a Page Rank of 4 while my custom domain stocksandblogs.com carries a PR of 3. Any idea why? What can I do to up my PR to 4 on the custom domain?

Amit, that's correct. However, by experience I recommend use of generic domains such as .com or .net. Country domains tend to change the Google influenced traffic pattern.
