Well you have to advertise and tell people what it is about and that would attract people.

If you're asking whether free traffic sites really work, the answer is yes if you know how to work them. There are lots of places online that offer free advertising and traffic services for anyone who has a website.

I've just read ""How to Get FREE Advertising and Traffic for Your Business Website" and believe that these are conventional and standard methods. Some other unique methods to draw traffic would be to search engine optimize your website, to create a video and post it on YouTube, to create an ebook and have it uploaded to sites such as high traffic sites such as Download.com. In order to get your page rank high quickly, you need to link yourself to high page ranks site, which will in turn help to boost your page rank ratings.

Hi Amit,

I would love to see a video tour (preferably in HD quality), of your Blogging Office. Many other bloggers have already done that.

Examples:
Darren Rowse at Problogger.net (http://www.problogger.net/archives/2008/01/11/problogger-hq-20/)

Chris Pirillo of Lockergnome
(http://chris.pirillo.com/2007/12/17/my-home-office/)

Daniel of DailyBlogTips
(http://www.dailyblogtips.com/what-does-your-desktop-look-like/)

I've seen just photos on Flickr, and your interviews of Youtube, but they are in low quality.

You can hide anything you like, for privacy reasons.
Please, Please, Please... this is a sincere request.

Thanks.

He says that he was not able to log-in to his adsense account, which would not have been if he was approved, even if the confirmation mail was listed as Spam.

I think you should email the AdSense team, and your question will be answered the way it should be.

@ROW

I heard this from my friend who had recently applied for Adsense on his blogspot blog. But he was not approved and here's the email from them:

****

In order to participate in Google AdSense, publishers' websites and application information must satisfy the following guidelines:

*Your website must be your own top-level domain (www.example.com and not www.example.com/mysite).
*Your domain must have been registered and active for at least 6 months before you apply for AdSense.
*You must provide accurate personal information with your application that matches the information on your domain registration.
*Your website must contain substantial, original content.
*Your site must comply with Google AdSense program policies: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py which include Google's webmaster quality guidelines: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769#quality.

***

I think the first 2 (or 3) rules are new ones, aren't they?

[I was approved into AdSense in a one-month old blog]

Well, I think it is a new rule, because adsense was previously available to even subdomains. But now, because of spams and adsense-only sites, they might have decided to change the rule.

But I ain't sure if blogger blogs are not accepted.

----

But how could you show ads without an active account..? [You didn't answer this]

How did u get the ads on your site..?

You can't get the ads without getting your account confirmed.., can you?

Then another thing: Google has changed its TOS. Now you should have your own top level domain name to get accepted for adsense. Eg. http://www.example.com

So, I think blogspot blogs can no longer apply for adsense....Bad luck :(

It's strange that you could show up ads without a confirmation mail from Google Adsense.May be they activated your account but failed in sending you a confirmation mail.Anyways, don't take anything for granted and mail them about the problem.....

Sumesh - I have not used any 'plugin' but wrote something on my own - the same is shared across all other tools on the site like PDF conversion, Email a Friend, Print Preview, etc.

Basically, it is a simple redirect to help me track via Google Analytics what kind of content is getting translated more and also to know the foreign languages that are more popular with my visitors.

Hi !

I'm not certain about what plugin Amit uses for DI, but there are two WordPress plugins, that might help -

WordPress Global Translator Plugin which is both free and open source.

The other alternative is Taragana's Translator Plugin Pro which is offered at $30 for a single blog or $200 for unlimited blogs. Six months support is also included.

The best way to attract good traffic is very well known - keep writing more and more nice, useful and fresh articles. Just think of retaining (and making them returning) the traffic first and let your content do the rest.

You have started only a couple of months back so nothing really unusual happening to you. I would suggest you to focus only on content building for at least next 2-3 months. Don't sway too much from the main objective of the blog. This will save your precious time from getting wasted in writing not-so-relevant and hence relatively insignificant articles.

You might already be knowing and doing all this. If that's the case then just continue that. All the best!

I started blogging a couple of months back and while google does index all my pages (and I'm atleast on the first page in some keywords), I still get a paltry 30-50 visitors a day. I'm still working on the monetizing and placement of ads but would first like to increase the pageviews.
