IE8 now supersedes IE7. There are a number of sites/forums that deal with CSS issues as applicable to IE6/7. Perhaps you could do a search for them or for "ie7 css hacks" among other terms.

http://www.positioniseverything.net/articles/ie7-dehacker.html also sheds some light.

The best way, however, would be to educate your audience to standards compliant browsers and offering them a choice of alternative browsers that will render your (hopefully) standards-compliant code correctly.

I have seen a site opening perfectly in Firefox. However in IE7, it shifts to the left and CSS formatting gets disturbed. Any resources where solutions to such problems can be found?

I am aware of the latest version of Chrome but throw some light on the command, provided as a solution to many by some users particularly with a silent nod of the Google Team to manage popups. I was asked to add some text to the end of it like this---(c:\Documents and Settings\administrator\local settings\applicationdata\Google\chrome\application\chrome.exe"-disable-popup-blocking).Now I want to know whether just by adding some text to the URL it will start behaving the way we want it to? I tried it several times only to get"the shortcut is not valid.check the path or file name is correct".SECONDLY I was reading a WORD DOCUMENT to end of which a HYPERLINK .pdf was given to view.I commanded "open",it said"the specified file can not be opened".this is not a problem on IE.Could you tell why this occurred?

Thanks Sparx. Will try out some of your suggestions. However, I see at most of the cyber cafes in India still use and they are quite reluctant to upgrade. IE 6 is basically being used by people who are not aware of the advantages of the new browsers and who don't really bother as it still does the work for them. I agree with you views regarding IE6 and hope that is removed completed from every single computer. But unfortunately it will take some time

Then encourage them to switch to alternative browsers. Push a mobile version after using scripting to identify the browser version being used. That way your content will be viewed, but users also get a subtle reminder to upgrade from IE6.

IE6, IE7 and now IE8 is here. Most definitely time to upgrade, security and feature wise. If they're part of an enterprise, then the sysadmins/network admins must be hauled upside down and flogged for allowing IE6's presence to remain. I feel strongly about this.

@techlee: Please, please, please....do NOT code specially for IE6. It's far too lax in terms of the security holes affecting it. And it's just not standards compliant.

Make sure your coding is W3C compliant and all will be well.

UPDATE: Further research shows that the search plugins in the Mozilla Firefox Addons site are in fact XML files and NOT packaged XPIs. My previous post is therefore partially incorrect. Since search XMLs are currently NOT being accepted, your only alternative is the Mycroft search engine repository.
